Frequently Asked Questions

Please find some of our more frequently asked questions below. If you can’t find the answer to your question, feel free to contact us!

What is an adventure with Falk Custom Adventures all about?

Our trips are all about discovering new places in an ecologically and socially responsible way, immersing ourselves in unfamiliar cultures and coming home with a new perspective on life, our world and even ourselves.

The places we visit are simply outstanding and we feel it's our responsibility to support these foreign lands by hiring local guides, staying in locally owned lodges and purchasing locally made or grown goods during our stay.

Why can't I plan my own trip?

You can! People do it all the time, but planning your own trip involves a lot of time, risk and money.

Planning a trip to a foreign area can be a little intimidating with questions such as:

  • What are the local customs?
  • What areas are safe?
  • Where do I go and how do I get there?
  • Will I be able to find a "good" local guide who speaks English and whom I can trust?
  • How do I find a reputable tour operator?

Our job is to do all the legwork for you. Using our experience and the fantastic local contacts that we have established, we are able to design the best trip possible for you.

You just sit back and relax. We've got it handled!

How do I know if group travel is for me?

Well, let’s see:

  • Do you enjoy being around like-minded individuals?
  • Do you want to see places and do things that you otherwise wouldn't be able to do on your own?
  • Do you want to experience new cultures?
  • Do you have an itch for a little adventure?

If you answered “yes” to these questions, then you’re perfect for our trips!

Why aren't all of your group dates available?

Lucky for us, people really enjoy traveling with Falk Custom Adventures. Maybe it's because of our small, friendly groups, our attention to detail, or possibly it's due to our awesome service or unique itineraries. The bottom line is, many of our trips tend to sell out quickly.

In an effort to make booking a trip fair for everyone, we’ve decided to post the next trip date opening for new reservations on our website in the detailed itinerary section, as well as notify all of our loyal adventurists through our newsletter.

The key here is to sign up for the newsletter so that you’re the first to know when new dates become available, first to book, and first to depart for an incredible new adventure!

Who usually goes on these trips?

The great thing about our groups is that they are so diverse. We might have doctors or lawyers taking a much-needed break, a family of four on their yearly vacation, a couple celebrating their recent retirement, singles, couples, people brand-new to adventure and some who are a little more seasoned.

Our guests are all friendly, adventuresome people who want to experience something completely new and exciting in a special way.

How would you describe your guides?

PHENOMENAL!

Experience has taught us that not all guides are created equally! It can be very difficult to find guides that meet our high standards, but we do eventually find them.

Our guides are what make our trips so special. They are locals and experts in wildlife, plants and local culture, many of whom hold positions such as teachers or archeologists. The best thing about our guides is that they are genuine, enthusiastic, exceptional people who are knowledgeable, personable, patient and happy to be helping make your adventure incredible.

You'll love them!

What are your group sizes?

An important feature of our trips is that we travel in small groups, the majority of trips being limited to only 10 people. This allows for maximum freedom and flexibility to explore places other tour operators won't go to or can't get to due to the larger number of people they have.

Traveling in small groups allows for a more intimate feeling, as if you're traveling with a group of close friends. Which, very quickly, you are!

What does the trip cost include?

Aren't hidden fees a bummer? We don't like them either, and that's why we make your trip as all-inclusive as possible.

The trip cost typically includes your escort from Falk Custom Adventures, English-speaking local guides, all ground transportation, meals, lodging, local permits and fees.

If there are any additional trip costs, they will be noted in the detailed trip itinerary.

What is a single supplement?

If you are traveling solo and would like to have your own room every night with your own private bath, you will need to pay the single supplement fee. The purpose of this fee is to cover the additional expenses of private rooms.

If, on the other hand, you are traveling solo and you would like to share accommodations with another guest, we will make every attempt to find you a roommate. If we are able to find you a roommate, you will not be obligated to pay the additional single supplement fee.

International airfare is not included in the trip cost. There are so many airline alternatives with different discounts and savings that we find most people would rather book their own airfare.

Do you recommend purchasing travel insurance?

Yes!

Travel insurance is not included in the trip price. The small cost of purchasing travel insurance will save you huge headaches in case of trip cancellations or interruptions (for medical reasons), medical expenses, lost luggage, unavoidable flight delays, emergency medical evacuations or accidental death.

We're more than happy to recommend insurance providers that deal specifically with travel insurance, or you can speak with your local insurance agent.
