A true African safari done right! Kenya.

Make Reservations!

The wildlife, the people, the culture and the adventure put Kenya at the top of our "We gotta go here” list.

When we designed this itinerary, the boss simply told us to sit back, close our eyes and think about what the perfect African safari should be like.

I pictured a small group of tents out on the open plains surrounded by nature with incredible scenic views. Oh! -- and it would be really cool to have Maasai warriors lead us in the search of lions, elephants, giraffes, cheetahs and rhinos!

And it has to be just us out there. No other vehicles or tourists to bother us. Just us and nature.

Man, we're good!

Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Welcome to Kenya!

After arriving in Nairobi, you will be met by your smiling and really excited escort from Falk Custom Adventures.

After making sure that everyone is comfortable, we will be driven approximately 4 hours in a roomy, private van to our exclusive camp which we will call home for the next 3 days.

When you see our campsite you will literally gasp with amazement! It looks unreal!

Our camp is a group of nine large guest tents, way off the beaten track, beautifully furnished with en suite bathrooms including showers, wash basins and flush toilets!

After our arrival, we will settle into camp while drinking our afternoon tea.
We will then be escorted to an authentic Maasai village to get an insight into the fascinating culture and way of life of the Maasai, lead by actual Maasai warriors.

The really cool thing is, the Maasai will be dressed in their authentic wardrobe and carrying traditional spears, not because they are trying to entertain us, but because this is their way of life.

We will then take a game drive through the private conservancy, spotting large populations of animals, followed by a sundowner at a scenic spot overlooking Mt. Kilimanjaro. We will continue with a night game drive and then return to our camp for a fresh-cooked dinner.

Day 2: Ridiculous amounts of wildlife!

Today, the birds will be our alarm clock, waking us with their nature calls.

After an early breakfast, we drive through the bush on our private track into Amboseli National Park, for a full morning of game viewing.

What are we going to see? Quick, close your eyes and think of what you would expect to see on a dream trip to Africa. Yep, you’re going to see all of that and more!

The short list includes elephants, lions, leopards, cheetahs, gazelle, impalas, wildebeests, giraffes, warthogs, hyenas and tons of birds! Can you say, AWESOME!

We will have a picnic lunch in the park and return to our camp for a little break.

In the evening, we’ll go on a game drive, stopping for a sundowner at a scenic viewpoint, followed by a night game drive in search of nocturnal animals such as aardvarks, serval cats, caracals, bat-eared foxes and African wild cats.

It's been a big day. Let’s get back to camp for some dinner!

Day 3: We are in the presence of warriors!

After an early breakfast, we’ll begin our guided walk through the Selenkay Conservancy, led by the experts, the Maasai people themselves.

Today is a perfect day to learn more about the Maasai people as they lead us on our walk, stopping at interesting sights and educating us about the resident plants and animals we find along the way.

We will enjoy a picnic lunch overlooking one of the local water holes as we spend a few hours relaxing in the wild to avoid the midday sun.

After lunch, we’ll continue walking towards Olosinkiran Hill, which offers stunning views of Mt. Kilimanjaro and the Chyulu Hills.

The camp 4x4 vehicle will meet us and we'll enjoy a sundowner and evening game drive as we return to our camp for a delicious dinner.

Day 4: Let’s fly to our next camp.

We awake early to pack our belongings. We've got another incredible camp to visit!

We’ll stop for a picnic breakfast while on our way to the airstrip, where we will board our short, one-hour flight to our second incredibly fantastic safari camp.

Our new camp is just as amazing as the last! Made up of six large guest tents that are placed perfectly in the shade of the nearby Yellow-Barked Acacia trees, containing en suite bathrooms with flush toilets and safari showers, this place is perfect!

We will settle into our tents and enjoy a hearty lunch prepared by the camp chef, followed by an afternoon game drive where we will look for the many large prides of lions in the area and then catch a scenic sundowner just before returning for dinner.

Day 5: Look how big that lion is!

After breakfast, we’ll enjoy a full day in the Maasai Mara National Park, driving around in our custom 4x4s, viewing the incredible "Big 5!"

The "Big 5" refers to Africa's five most incredible animals: lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo and rhino. Yep, they're all here! I hope you still have some battery life left in your camera.

We will have another picturesque lunch with amazing views and nature’s soundtrack playing in the background before returning to camp for a short siesta.

We will load back up into our 4x4 vehicles and hit the trail again to catch a sundowner and night game drive in Ol Kinyei Conservancy before heading to bed for a full night’s sleep.

Day 6: Ssshhh! We have to be very quiet!

We will awake early in the morning to find our Maasai warriors ready to take us on a morning walk around Ol Kinyei Conservancy where we will experience the awakening of the African plains.

After our morning walk, we’ll return to camp for a big breakfast and then take some time to walk around our camp, taking in the impressive scenic views and incredible up-close wildlife, or you can just relax peacefully at your tent.

Later in the afternoon, we’ll go out for another game drive or a guided bush walk where we can catch a sundowner, have some dinner and call it a night.

After breakfast, we’ll beg for one final morning game drive before we’re transferred to the airstrip for our flight back to Nairobi. (Believe us, your Falk Custom Adventures escort is not above squeezing out a few tears if necessary to get one last game drive in.)

We will take the short flight to Nairobi where we will be transferred to the famous Carnivore Restaurant for a fabulous lunch. And then it's onward to our hotel for the afternoon, where we can either relax for the rest of the day, or we can walk around to the adjacent village market complex for some shopping and exploring the city.

Day 8: OK, now we have to figure out how we can stay.

We start this morning with a serious brainstorming session. Our time has run out and our transportation is on its way! We need to figure out a way to stay a couple of extra days!

If we don't figure anything out, we’ll be picked up and transferred to Jomo Kenyatta Airport for our international flights home. All good things must end … Bummer!!

We’ll say our goodbyes, but we will never forget the amazing trip, the sites and the friends we've made along the way. ‘Bye, Africa!
