Sailed from Los Angeles to Hawaii on boat made out of plastic bottles?

[ 0 ] March 2, 2010 | Derek

I came across this fantastic website JunkRaft.com.

The story is: Two guys, obviously friends, decided to gather up 15,000 plastic bottles, snag a cockpit from a Cessna and build a boat, respectfully named Junk.  The idea, launch this bad boy from a Los Angeles marina and sail the 2,600 miles to dock this beauty in Hawaii.

Why? To raise awareness about plastic marine debris in the oceans.

The journey took 3 months and they documented the voyage using a their trusty video camera.  You guys gotta check this out! www.junkraft.com Scroll down the home page and watch some interesting video.

Well done!!
