Airlines charging to use restroom on flights!?
Two different airlines have come up with two different ways of making a little extra cash.
Spirit Airlines which mainly runs out of Florida and Latin America has obviously seen our video, How to Pack Light and they must not be happy with it. In the video we show you how to pack light for a multi-day trip, avoiding having to check in any bags and in the process you get to save an extra $20 – $30 per bag. Money that you would have otherwise had to spend on your checked bag.
Spirit Airlines has said “NO MORE!” Starting August 1, 2010 Spirit Airlines will be charging $45 at the gate or $30 if paid in advance for any carry on baggage that will be placed in the overhead compartment.
That’s right, more fees!
Don’t worry to much though. Your bag of pretzels, i-pod, camera or any other small personal items or bag that can be placed under the seat will still be free. WOOT!!

Ryanair Airlines, on the other hand, has come up with a cruel and ingenious way to make people either suffer or pay up a little extra cash. The plan is called “The Ryanair Cost Saving Proposal,” and involves charging everyone who needs to tinkle or possibly something even worse a $1.33 – $1.52 USD fee to use the restroom in flight. The plan should be called “The Hold it or Pay Up Proposal.”
Ryanair is currently working with Boeing to develop the coin operated door and the reason this new plan would be implemented? The spokesman said they want to encourage people to use the lavatory in the airport prior to boarding the plane.
It’s just these two airlines right now other major carriers are watching to see what the response is before they start to implement similar plans.
